Atlanta Streetcar SUE and Survey

Based on our extensive experience, reputation, and resources, T2ue was selected to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering and Utility Coordination to meet a short five-month deadline.

The $72 million City of Atlanta Streetcar design-build project created a multi- modal transit network linking communities and enhancing transit access and options, with the planned alignment through downtown Atlanta and some of the city’s most historic districts.
Based on our extensive experience, reputation, and resources, T2 Utility Engineers was selected to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Utility Coordination services for the first 2.6 mile section, owned by the City of Atlanta and maintained/operated by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).

The RFP required a 30 day timeline to prepare the Utility Coordination data for this massive design-build project. No other firm would accept the task, but T2ue met the deadline. As part of the design-build team, our Utility Coordination team completed the conflict analysis and identified 19 utilities with 675 conflicts that required advanced utility data. Our ability to produce a detailed report in this short amount of time was recognized by the client. Our work allowed the project and utility owners to address conflicts during project design, saving time and money.

Our project timeline for the SUE work in the first segment also had a very fast turnaround, five month contracting deadline in a high traffic corridor. The T2ue team completed a topographic survey and mapping of the right of way of existing roads and interstate highway of the full corridor; designated (CI/ASCE 38-02 Quality Level B) approximately 30 miles of underground utilities, and located utilities at more than 250 test holes (CI/ASCE 38-02 Quality Level A). Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, we overlaid the 30%, 60%, and 90% design plans provided by MARTA/MATC with the information gathered from the designating (CI/ASCE 38- 02 Quality Level B) Subsurface Utility Engineering services.

What Our Clients Are Saying

“I wanted to reach out to you two and thank you and your team for an outstanding effort on the completion of the Composite UAS for the Atlanta Streetcar Project. The task was significant. The time allotted was too short. The number of utilities was great. The complexity of the information was incredible. The need for accuracy was critical. You did it and you did it all. My personal thanks to you and to your team.”
