Project Highlights

T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue), formerly TSH.TBE, was hired by ISL Engineering and Land Surveying (ISL) to complete a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigation along the Transportation and Utility Corridor.

The purpose of the utility investigation was to clearly identify the location of existing underground utilities in order to facilitate the design for the new highway construction. The investigation focused on telecommunications, gas, electrical, water and pipelines. T2ue collected and analyzed all available utility records and information from ISL and utility companies.

T2ue used hydro vacuuming and geophysical technologies such as:  electromagnetic pipe and cable locators to determine the horizontal and vertical alignments of utilities. Inverts measurements on sewers were collected as well. All marks/pins were surveyed and information extrapolated into a composite utility design showing the existing utilities at the appropriate Quality Levels in accordance with the ASCE 38-02:  Standard Guideline for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.

There were numerous locations where pipelines or other utilities were identified that did not appear on the records drawings that were available.

The investigation was successful in confirming and further refining the location of the existing utilities.  The test holes installed provide depth and size information that was critical for determining the utility impacts on the project.
