Project Manager

As a Project Manager, your primary responsibility will be to grow and expand our Subsurface Utility Engineering services as well as manage individual projects.

Specific duties will include:

  • Marketing SUE services to clients including development of proposals
  • Preparation of SUE deliverables
  • Financial management of projects to ensure achievement of profitability
  • Represent T2 Utility Engineers at client meetings for projects and marketing and project management activities
  • Other duties/responsibilities as required

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring with them a good general knowledge of municipal infrastructure (i.e. watermains, sewer, gas, telecom, electrical) as well as an understanding of geophysical investigation methodologies (i.e. ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic cable locate equipment, etc.). The candidate must possess excellent presentation and marketing skills, and most importantly an outgoing personality and strong desire to succeed. Candidates should have an engineering degree from a recognized institution and be eligible for P.Eng. status.

Utility Locate Technician

Your primary responsibility is to assist in the collection of field data associated with the completion of SUE investigations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Locate subsurface utilities using geophysical designating equipment
  • Operate a vacuum excavation truck, or supervise the operation of subcontractors
  • Data collection
  • Trouble-shoot/co-ordinate and effectively communicate with engineers, project managers and directors
  • Ensure optimum usage of and maintain SUE equipment and truck
  • Follow and understand T2 Utility Engineers’ processes
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications
  • Experience using geophysical designation equipment is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Willing to work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license for site work
Survey Technician

Your primary responsibility is to lead the collection of survey field data associated with the completion of SUE investigations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Survey marks from utility mapping investigations
  • Survey of valves, pedestals and other street furniture
  • Data collection
  • Trouble-shoot / coordinate and effectively communicate with engineers, project managers
  • Ensure optimum usage of and maintain SUE equipment and truck
  • Follow and understand T2 Utility Engineers’ processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years related experience using survey equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Willing to work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license for site work
  • OLS would be an asset
Utility Coordinator

Ontario LocationsBurlington | Whitby

This is a blended junior coordinator position with CAD/Admin/Coordinator responsibilities. This position is designed to maximize the skills of the candidate while enhancing their knowledge. The candidate will acquire on the job experience with the opportunity to learn and become an expert in Utility Engineering.

Specific duties will include:

  • Chair and/or attend utility meetings maintaining minutes, action register and other documentation and follow up on action items from these meetings
  • Provide input to or prepare written documentation to be included in proposals, design standards, and project requirements. Daily, weekly or monthly reports, emails, reporting to the client on an as needed project basis
  • Communicate with Utilities relocation requirements for large LRT, road, structure projects by understanding the scope of the project, methods of installation, and design impact on existing utilities including gas, hydro, telecom, water, sewer and storm, including associated distribution and feeder networks
  • Creation of a utility relocation matrix which accounts for conflicts throughout the project lifecycle including considerations for multiple contractors working in the project time and space
  • Creation of and maintenance of the utility conflict matrix throughout the life of the project tracking risks, and relocation completions or elimination of conflict
  • Provide input to the SUE data collection strategy and an evaluation of the SUE information provided by third parties
  • Gathering Utility Records and planned expansions from the utilities and municipalities which is not included the SUE investigation
  • Participate in scheduled project meetings
  • Calculate relocation costs and timing for utility relocations
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Reporting skills, administrative writing skills, Microsoft Office skills, managing processes, organization, analyzing information, professionalism, problem solving
  • Understand and execute when necessary creation of Utility mapping to QL-D accuracy, including execution of Utility Records circulation and depiction of those records
  • Take base drawings, in CAD or Microstation, provided by SUE team, owner, or design team and add a Utility Conflict Layer and/or direct/assist CAD assistant to do so
  • Transfer Utility (gas, hydro, and telecom) designs, municipal applications, and/or record drawings into the base drawing, convert to the project standard and prepare Composite Utility Plans and/or direct/assist CAD assistant to do so
  • Prepare utility designs and/or running lines
  • Other responsibilities as required by the senior project coordinator, manager or engineer

Qualifications

  • Work in the design, planning or construction field of Utilities; telecommunications hydro, gas or other utility
  • Work experience as a CAD (MicroStation) Technician drawing civil structures (road, culverts, retaining walls, storm, sanitary sewers, watermains, underground utility designs)
  • Field experience in survey, construction, coordination or inspector
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation, Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and deliver to often short time frames as directed by the client and/or the project coordinator
  • Engineering or Architecture Degree from an Ontario accredited college, university or equivalent
  • Desire to learn to be the best you can be in utility engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform well in a team environment
CADD/Project Coordinator I

In this entry level position, you will prepare computer-generated engineering drawings according to established standards and procedures.

Specific duties will include:

  • Prepare project drawings using AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Compile and prepare test hole datasheets, photos, etc. for inclusion in project reports
  • Assist with preparation of One Call requests
  • Assist with preparation of permits for field operations
  • Communicate with client operations staff to ensure compliance with client requirements (i.e. CADD standards)
  • Assist with preparation of utility records research
  • Understand and follow the company’s standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout
  • Maintain schedules and offers progress report
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Drafting of utility drawings using Microstation and AutoCAD
  • Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Junior Utility Coordinator

Ontario Locations:  Burlington | Whitby

Specific duties will include:

  • Take base drawings, in CAD or Microstation, provided by SUE, owner, or the design team and add a Utility Conflict Layer as instructed by the Utility Coordinator
  • Transfer Utility (gas, hydro, and telecom) designs, municipal applications, and/or record drawings into the base drawing and convert to the project standard
  • Prepare utility designs and/or running lines
  • Ensure Utility design drawings are complete and ready for review and sealing by a Professional Engineer
  • Assist with preparation of Utility Records research
  • Communicate with client operations people to ensure compliance with client requirements (i.e. CADD standards)
  • Understands and follows the company’s standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout
  • Other responsibilities as required by the project coordinator, manager or engineer

 Qualifications

  • 1 or more years in a related public or private utility field
  • Work experience as a CAD Technician drawing underground utility designs
  • Land experience in survey, contract inspection, construction, contract inspector
  • Good knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation
  • Knowledge of local municipal, MTO, Metrolinx, TTC, and utility standards
  • Ability to work and focus on multiple projects and deliver to often short time frames as directed by the client and/or the project coordinator

CCTV Technician

Your primary responsibility is to assist in the collection of field data associated with the completion of CCTV investigations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Locate subsurface utilities using geophysical designating equipment
  • Assist with the operation of the CCTV Inspection Unit while on-site investigation is in progress, and or supervise the operation of subcontractors
  • Potentially be trained to operate the CCTV Inspection Unit
  • Trouble-shoot/co-ordinate and effectively communicate with engineers, project managers and directors
  • Ensure optimum usage of and maintain CCTV equipment and truck
  • Follow and understand T2 Utility Engineers processes
  • Other duties as assigned
