Port Hope Area Initiative

T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue), as part of the team working for the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI), completed a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Investigation on 152 sites in Port Hope.

The PHAI project involves the cleanup of approximately 1.2 million cubic metres of historic low-level radioactive waste from various sites in Port Hope, the construction of an engineered aboveground mound where the waste will be safely contained, and the long-term monitoring and maintenance of the new waste management facility.

T2 Utility Engineers involvement on the project was to help ensure that there was no damage done to the existing utility infrastructure in the areas where testing is being completed. T2ue used EM and CCTV equipment to help map the utilities and provide the information to the project teams working on the sample collections.
