Sewer Surveys DeKalb County, GA

When unforeseen changes impacted the county’s deadline to complete critical federal and state water compliance inventories, T2ue mobilized resources from across the USA to get the job done quickly and safely.

T2 Utility Engineer’s ability to rapidly respond to clients’ needs and deploy significant resources from across the United States to meet tightening timeframes was exemplified by survey work we completed in DeKalb County, Georgia. DeKalb County is part of the Atlanta metro area, located on the eastern side of the City of Atlanta. It is one of the most populous counties in the state of Georgia.

DeKalb County is implementing a Clean Water Act settlement consent decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) that formalizes implementation of certain sanitary sewer system programs and improvements. The programs and improvements ensure compliance with the federal Clean Water Act and the Georgia Water Quality Control Act and will improve the viability of the County’s sewers for generations. The consent decree provided a roadmap for working cooperatively with the EPA and EPD.

T2 Utility Engineers has provided sewer inventory services involving the scanning of a number of structures for a pilot program in the County. These scans from inside the manhole showed obstructions in pipes entering the structure. Using the scan technology eliminated the need for any “Permit-Required Confined Space Entry” for staff, creating a safer work zone on the project. T2ue also provided surveying & GIS services on multiple sewer structure inventory projects at various locations around the county.
