The ASCE Standards Committee is in the process of updating the ASCE 38-02 Standards to reflect advancements in best practices since 2002. Project Owners and others will be interested in the refinements to clarify the scope of utility investigations and the responsibilities of those engaged in providing utility investigations. The updates will affect client deliverables.

About the presenter:
John P. Campbell, PE, SR/WA, M.ASCE is the Texas Branch Manager for T2 Utility Engineers in Austin, TX. John is a licensed Texas Professional Engineer and worked as a utility construction superintendent and municipal utility design consultant prior to 27 years with TxDOT as a Utility Coordinator, the Statewide Utility Engineer and Right of Way Division Director. John has been actively involved in leadership roles with Utilities-related industry groups, including Chairman of the AASHTO Right of Way and Utilities committee for six years and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) as a Subject Matter Expert and a former Research Coordinator. A founding member of the ASCE UESI, Utility Risk Management (URM) division, John is the 2021 UESI President and a member-governor on the ASCE Technical Region Board of Governors. John is also a long-serving member of the UESI Standards Committee, which is currently updating ASCE/CI/UESI 38, “Standard Guideline for Investigating and Documenting Existing Utilities”. He also serves on the new ASCE/CI/UESI Standards Committee for the “Standard Guideline for Recording and Exchanging Utility Infrastructure Data”.
