Recognized as a leader in managing the risks associated with above-ground and subsurface utilities, T2ue has been providing Utility Engineering, Utility Investigations, Utility Management and Geophysical expertise since 2002.

Utility Engineering (Consulting Services)

Utility Engineering is a vital discipline within civil infrastructure, playing a foundational role in the planning, design, and execution of construction projects. It supports Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) firms by enabling the accurate identification, analysis, coordination, and management of utility systems, both above and below ground. At its core, Utility Engineering ensures that utility infrastructure is clearly understood, thoughtfully integrated, and safely managed throughout every phase of a project’s lifecycle.

At T2ue, we recognize that utility-related risks can significantly impact project timelines, budgets, and safety. That’s why our Utility Engineering services are designed to support a wide range of stakeholders, including municipalities, transportation agencies, utility owners, developers, and contractors by proactively managing utility-related challenges before they become costly problems.

We combine technical expertise, regulatory insight, and cutting-edge technology to deliver customized solutions that align with each client’s goals and constraints. Whether it’s a large-scale infrastructure project or a localized development, our team provides the clarity and coordination needed to move forward with confidence.

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Investigations (ASCE 38)

Professional investigation and analysis of below and above-ground utilities, using engineering standards, provides the reliable information project owners and designers need to manage the impact of existing utilities on projects to avoid costly problems during construction. Our professionals provide the technical insight and quality information you won’t get anywhere else.

Modified Utility Investigations (ASCE 38 not requested)

We deliver utility data that reflects real-world conditions with accuracy and flexibility. While full SUE investigations offer the highest confidence, we understand not all projects require it. That’s why we offer modified utility investigations—targeted, risk-informed solutions tailored to your budget, timeline, and scope. From focused mapping to phased data collection, we help you make informed decisions without compromising quality or safety.

Utility Coordination

Utility relocations present the greatest potential for schedule delays on infrastructure projects. One of the primary goals of utility coordination is to minimize the need for relocations through early identification and communication with the project design team, reducing claims and expensive delays during construction. Engaging T2ue’s Utility Coordinators helps ensure a well-managed approach.

As Built Records (ASCE 75/CSA S250)

Following the ASCE 75-22 or the CSA S250, we create accurate and detailed as-built records to document the precise location and configuration of underground utilities following construction. These records help utility owners and engineers ensure compliance, improve future planning, and minimize the risk of damage to the utility in the future.

Utility Locates

At T2ue, we understand that accurate utility locating is essential to safe and efficient construction and excavation. Our Utility Locate Services are performed to provide clarity, reduce risk, and support compliance with provincial and municipal regulations. We offer a full suite of locate solutions tailored to meet the needs of contractors, developers, facility managers, and utility owners.

When procuring your Utility Locate firm it's important to understand their background. The locators operating in the OneCall environment are typically focused on marking a single utility type (e.g., only marking gas), and their responsibility is limited to the assets they are contracted to mark for. At T2ue, our approach is far more comprehensive. T2ue's technicians performing utility locates are the same professionals conducting Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations. By nature, T2ue's technicians possess a higher level of expertise and accountability. T2ue’s technicians are trained to confirm the location of all utility types including unknown conductives, private utilities, as well as abandoned infrastructure; providing a complete and accurate picture of the subsurface environment. Our services go beyond basic markings to deliver detailed, multi-utility locates that support safer and more efficient project execution.

The quality of T2ue’s Utility Locating services complement that of the various provincial OneCall systems, thanks to our long history and involvement in the Canadian Common Ground Alliance (CCGA). While OneCall locates are typically performed by utility-specific contractors to a general tolerance of about 1 meter. T2ue’s technicians are trained to meet the ASCE 38 standard, achieving horizontal accuracy within 15 to 30 centimeters using surface geophysical methods. This level of precision is essential for damage prevention and risk mitigation.

Buried Tanks & Chambers

T2ue implements the use of GPR to scan the entirety of a property and either locate an Underground Storage Tank (UST) anomaly or confirm there are no UST anomalies present on the property.

Dedicated Locator or Alternate Locator

Seeing SUE drawings in your tender package? Hire the folks who manage utility risk throughout the entire project lifecycle. SUE Technicians are experts in finding all utility types as part of a Utility Engineering Investigation, not just locating a specific utility day-in day-out. When you're relying on a Dedicated/Alternate Locator to make sure all of the utilities are located, hire the company with real experience.

Locate Project Management (LPM)

Dig with confidence. T2ue will take on the onerous task of managing your OneCall requests and preparing a final locate package for excavations. Along with a locate package, you get the added benefit of an experienced SUE Technician to verify the OneCall paint marks and investigate any privately owned utilities, so you can excavate without the worry of utility strikes. As an added benefit, T2ue can mark sewers and laterals helping avoid potential utility cross-bores. Give us a call to discuss how we can help.

Marker Ball Installations

Not all utilities are composed of conductive materials, making them difficult to verify. T2ue has the expertise to perform the difficult investigation to verify them once, then install marker-balls allowing future verifications to be far more simple and repeatable.

OneCall Locates

OneCall Locates are time sensitive and often have an impact on project schedules. T2ue offers peak shaving services to Locate Service Providers and Utility Owners who face an influx of OneCall tickets that exceed staffing capacities. Meet your OneCall demands and maintain client satisfaction.

Private Locates – for excavation or installation of boreholes

OneCall services are limited to public property, but you may need to know where utilities are located on private property. Providing Private Locates is the process of identifying and marking underground utilities on-site. An array of surface-level geophysical utility locating techniques are employed to accurately confirm a utility's position. Each utility's location is documented in a 2D sketch and included in a general locate package.
